Our client is a leading provider of wireless communications services throughout the United States and in its international ventures. Headquartered in the northwest, the company employs more than 13,000 people focused on serving customers with wireless voice and data communications. They are a leader in the development of wireless data communications, offering solutions designed to meet a broad spectrum of business data communications requirements and consumer needs. These include short transactions such as messaging, data entry and dispatch, along with longer sessions typical of file transfers and interactive computing.
System Test and Product Support
You will be responsible for developing and deploying Digital Broadband service in the area of System Test and Product Support. This Engineering team is the group that developed a state-of-the-art wireless local loop that uses OFDM over its airlink to deliver voice and high speed data to customers. The first generation product is in deployment and this team is now undertaking the development of the next generation family of products, that will include new airlink technologies, VoIP, etc.
The System Test team is responsible for the system-level functional verification, performance characterization, end-to-end system/network test, for all fixed wireless network elements. These include the proprietary elements (Basestation, terminal, element management system, tools, etc.) as well as the other network elements that the system interfaces with (e.g. 5ESS, DMS, IP Switch/Data Service Node, HomeLan, etc.). This team also provides engineering product support to the field. The resulting environment is rich in the diversity of technologies that the team works with.
They have openings for Engineers, Team/Project Leads (5+ years of experience) in the following areas. All positions require strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team-oriented fast-paced environment.
Automation Development System Test Engineer
Candidates must have strong knowledge/experience with (one or more) Java based programming, LabView, Xrunner. Must have developed test automation for products and instrumentation used in the telecom/datacom/wireless industry. Candidate will work closely with senior system test engineers to define/write test plans and develop test automation scripts. These test programs will verify product functionality and characterize performance of the state-of-the-art wireless products. This automation will also need to support the regression test process. BS EE/CS with at least 2 years of relevant experience. Skills must include some of the following: Java Servlets, Java Server Pages, JDBC, LabVIEW Internet Toolkit, SQL Toolkit, GPIB/IEEE 488, VME/VXI, Xrunner
Call Processing System Test Engineer
Perform unit level (protocol stacks) and system level testing for call processing and the EOC (OAM&P) channel between the switch and base station. The call processing testing will include all call control messaging, working with the automation and regression group to define a set of metrics to include call completion rates, dial tone delay, and voice quality - PSQM (Perceptual Speech Quality Measurement) or MOS scores. Testing also includes defining erlang models that stress/evaluate the performance of the airlink, basestation and terminal. Candidate must also be capable of developing test/verification/characterization plans. Must be familiar with CO emulators, bulk call generators, etc. Familiarity with GR303 would be a significant plus as would knowledge of IP telephony. BS/MS in EE/CS with 3 plus years of relevant experience.
High Speed Data System Test Engineer
Perform functional verification and performance characterization of the High Speed Data capability of the Fixed Wireless Service. This includes developing an in-depth understanding at the unit level (protocol stack) and at the system level of the network elements that collectively provide this capability including the IP Switch/Data Service Node, the basestation, airlink, the terminal, HomeLAN, etc. Needs to have a strong understanding of the architectural elements of a typical IP Switch (switches, routers, DHCP/HTTP servers, tunnel servers, etc.), data transmission and IP protocols (PPP, LAPD, TCP, UDP, etc.), and IP addressing. Will need to acquire a thorough understanding of the data transmission protocol over the airlink. BS/MS EE/CS with 3+ years of relevant experience in datacom. Experience with wireless data would be a significant plus.
