Marketing - Director – Telecom Consulting

Our client offers a breadth of services, including strategy development, financial services, valuation, emerging technology services, information management, litigation support, and claims processing. Their clients include Fortune 100 companies, as well as the 50 largest investor-owned utilities, the 20 largest gas distribution companies and the 12 largest local exchange telecommunications companies in the United States, all of whom benefit from their expertise, knowledge, and sophisticated approaches to value creation. They are listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

As Director, Telecom Consulting you are responsible for leading and growing a telecom consulting practice. Current practice includes 4+ professionals and ongoing consulting in market entry analysis, marketing strategy, new business ventures, and regulatory issues. Current or recent clients include major international firms, utilities with telecom affiliates, and utilities undertaking telecom infrastructure development initiatives, RBOCs, and CLECs.

The director is expected to develop and sell more than $1 million of business per year, and spend at least 30% of his/her time on consulting assignments. Other responsibilities include recruiting, mentoring current staff, developing new consulting services, and quality assurance.

In addition to leading and working with existing telecommunications consulting staff, the successful candidate must drive the growth of the practice and a constantly changing consulting resource pool. Our client makes extensive use of independent contractors to augment its professional staff, and currently has employee recruiting and business unit acquisition initiatives underway as part of the telecommunications consulting practice business plan.

Key attributes of the successful candidate include:

• Proven track record in delivering consulting services to telecommunications firms in one or more of the following areas: business strategy; marketing strategy; new product development; pricing; strategic planning; acquisitions; customer service; regulatory compliance; and strategic alliances.

• Proven track record of developing and selling more then $1 million in consulting business in each of the last two 12-month periods.

• High energy, enthusiastic leader

• Broad recognition within the industry

• Knowledgeable about a broad range of telecommunications technologies and markets such as broadband, wireless, and DSL

• Willingness to travel 50%+ of time

• Flexible and willing to manage and lead a constantly changing consulting resource pool.

• Prefer some knowledge of other distributed infrastructure industries, such as electric, gas, and water

• Prefer some management experience in a telecommunications firm
