Marketing - Product Manager - Windows 2000 Services – CA

Our client established the Network Attached Storage (NAS) market and gained a clear understanding of the requirements for availability, scalability and data protection at the high end of the Enterprise NAS marketplace. In 1997 they introduced the first bi-lingual offering allowing both UNIX (NFS) and NT (CIFS) clients to share files as they transitioned from UNIX to NT. In 1999 they introduced their second generation hardware and software platform providing a new product trajectory that is positioned to leverage partners' product roadmaps for faster computing, faster networking, increased flexibility in storage subsystems and expanded functionality in file system, networking, storage resource management and data delivery services.

They are currently seeking a highly qualified Product Manager for Windows 2000 Services. They recently hired a former Vice President of Sales from with the goal of building a first rate marketing and sales team. As such, this individual will be part of a new dynamic team responsible for rolling out a new generation of Network Attached Servers. In addition, the selected candidate will have an ability to make a major impact on the future direction of new product introductions. As such, this individual will need to be results driven, creative, strategic minded, dynamic and enjoy the wide range of responsibilities inherent in an entrepreneurial atmosphere. Ideally this candidate will bring a strong understanding of the Network Attached Storage Industry with experience in Product Management.

An individual fulfilling the main responsibilities of this position will:

Define and drive marketing/product strategy for the NT and Windows 2000 market and product roadmap.

• Work with Engineering, Sales, Customer Service, Operations and Finance in an energetic environment to address the data delivery needs of a rapidly growing market with ever-increasing needs for continuous availability to data in the Enterprise.

• Gather information from customers and prospects and market trends from industry analysts, competition, partners and other vendors to establish market opportunities and customer requirements.

• Provide competitive analysis and ongoing input to Marketing on features necessary to meet and continue to beat competition in the Windows and NT arena.

Work closely with Engineering to determine potential solutions, priorities, timing and trade-offs.

• Work closely with Sales, Service, Executive Management and Partners to ensure they have a clear understanding of capabilities and benefits of both existing and planned functionality.

• Provide input to other members of the Product and Program Management Team to assure a complete solution of Hardware, Software and Services will be delivered to the market.

• Be responsible for continuing to drive the relationship with Microsoft and other key vendors for the Windows 2000 marketplace to understand their product roadmaps and market strategies and blend Auspex's strategy with theirs.

Skills Required:

• B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

• 5 years computer industry experience with at least 3 years focused in software for the NT marketplace.

• 3-5 years experience in product management, negotiating and managing 3rd party partnerships, joint engineering development and business development.

• Must be self-motivated with strong analytical and communication skills.
