Our client was responsible for designing, developing and manufacturing the world's first reprogrammable logic device in 1984, the EP300 with 300 gates of logic. Today, PLDs are found in thousands of products that require digital logic. They switch traffic lights and operate video games. Medical imaging devices and computer printers provide unparalleled accuracy because of PLDs. The programming flexibility of our clients’ PLDs make them ideal for use in communications equipment, which must be able to adapt to rapidly changing standards. Major equipment customers such as Bay Networks, Cisco Systems, and 3Com use their devices in sophisticated routers and switches that keep worldwide networks, including the Internet, running around the clock. Their devices are found in hundreds of other cutting-edge products manufactured by such companies as Ascend, Lucent, NEC, Samsung, Siemens, and Sony.

They are currently seeking a highly qualified Forecasting and Supply Chain Manager who will be part of a fundamental shift/addition within the supply chain business model. This is a newly created position. There primary focus has been on the distribution market which generates 95% of their business. However, the new VP, Sales appointed in early, 2000 has refocused the Sales Organization responsibilities in order to better shore up the companies efforts to forecast the OEM markets they serve through the distributors. As a result, they are looking for an individual who will work closely with the VP, Sales, Strategic Business Managers and Strategic Accounts to focus on both product and revenue forecasts so that can be relayed to Altera's internal operational/production teams and thereby ensure that the top OEM accounts are receiving exceptional service. The ultimate goal is to develop a forecasting and supply chain model that helps promote better revenue forecasting and world class service and will make our client the supplier of choice.

Your Role:

Your major role is to work directly with the Strategic Business Managers, key end customers, their distribution partners, and contract manufacturers to understand their forecast, revenue generation and production needs whether it is a new product start-up or an on-going production need. As the business dictates, the role or scope of this position may be slightly altered or changed over time. This individual will:

• understand the forecast requirements for these tier 1 customers and therefore ensure forecast data is consistent between SBM"s, the end customer and distribution.

•  resolve forecasting differences between the customer, distributors and contract manufacturers.

• understand run-rates and inventory requirements.

• Work closely with the Strategic Business Manager, marketing, sales, operations, to ensure that our client meets the supply chain requirements for the distribution channel, any Contract Manufacturer (CM), and the end customer.

• Work with the customers BOM's and forecast to ensure accuracy and to verify they can support the customers requirements. Raise issues to Operations, Marketing and Sales to ensure we meet necessary demand.

• help set the standard for world class service and aide in growing the business for these key global customers.

Additonal Important Abilities:

• Strong interface required with virtually all key departments in the company (Customer & Product Marketing, Field Sales, Operations, Planning, Engineering, Finance, MIS)

•  Requires ability to jump into a problem and quickly establish priorities, and resolve customer problems in a real time manner. Communicate problem resolution with distributor, field sales people, rep, and possibly the end customer as well.

• Interface required at all levels of the organization

Qualifications:

• Must have Distribution management experience or Supply Chain Management experience in the semiconductor industry. Field sales experience in a distribution environment would be desirable.

• Requires full understanding of the supply chain flow utilizing end customers that use distribution and contract manufacturers.

• Full understanding of Operations and Planning process for semiconductors (fab, assembly, test, yields)

• Requires excellent presentations skills

•  Requires ability to bring groups or individuals together from different companies, with different interest, to develop a common goal

• Strong working knowledge of distribution.

• Portray strong, positive leadership capabilities that people will rally around.

•  Requires excellent systems skills and/or the ability to learn new systems.
