Job Description: The Director of Inventory Management is responsible for leading the team that designs and executes the inventory management policies. This individual will team with the product group general managers to define the policies and procedures that will enable world-class inventory management processes to drive profitability (i.e. economies of scale) across the business units. You will work very closely with three main functional groups to include the retail buying group, decision support and the IT systems group in overseeing the optimization of supply chain initiatives. Candidate must have in-depth knowledge of inventory management and operations management techniques, preferably in a high-velocity retail or multitiered distribution environment. They also must demonstrate success in leading the implementation of inventory management processes leading to significant results. Requirements include: Outstanding business acumen and leadership skills that are collaborative and supportive; a proven record of successfully implementing inventory management programs and processes; deep knowledge of the practical and theoretical world of inventory management - optimizing supply chain and inventory management systems; previous experience managing planning & analysis, maybe a background as a finance manager; experience building systems, preferably in inventory management preferably in a high turnover supply chain; experience managing the development of systems such as inventory planning systems, customer order fulfillment and ERP or Enterprise Requirements Planning - this person will be highly involved in the design/strategy/structure & tools utilized to optimize the system; Leadership- experience and success leading groups of at least 5 or more people - managing and coaching high level managers who have direct reports; Project Management skills, holding people accountable. Communication & interpersonal skills. Must have strong influencing skills; Should have Profit & Loss experience; demonstrated creativity and innovation; MBA or significant quantitative analysis background (engineering degree, math degree; Multiple company experience a plus; Advanced degree and APICS certification are an asset. High visibility within the company up to CFO and within the industry. This person is being groomed to take over the VPs position. Managers management style tends to be a delegate by authority but will be hands-on when necessary.
